Valley Auto Sales Up 4.3% in October
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Auto sales in the Mahoning Valley rose slightly in October, totaling 5,372, a 4.3% gain, according to data from the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association.
New-car sales in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties were up 4.6% to 2,984, while sales of used cars rose 3.6% to 2,305. The reports from the dealership association counts registrations to the Secretary of State for addresses in the three counties.
Leading new-car sales in the Valley was Sweeney Chevrolet, Boardman, with 229 sold, up 27 from the same month a year ago. Following were Sweeney Buick GMC, Boardman, with 157, up 20; Boardman Subaru, Boardman, 156, down three; Greenwood Chevrolet, Austintown, 140, down 37; and Stadium GM, Salem, 135, up one.
Atop the used-car sales chart was Taylor Kia of Boardman with 120 sold in October, up 42 from a year ago. It was the area’s only dealership to hit triple digits, though Greenwood and Sweeney Buick Gmc each sold 99 last month.
Across the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association’s 22-county membership area, combined sales of new and used cars rose 6.9% to 8,740. Four area dealerships ranked in the top 10: Sweeney Chevy at No. 5, Sweeney Buick GMC at No. 8, Greenwood Chevy at No. 9 and Taylor Kia in 10th.
