Mocha House Will Open Downtown Location Monday

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The Mocha House Café & Eatery will open its third location on Jan. 20 downtown.

The spacious restaurant at 120 E. Boardman St. is in the Plaza Parking Garage building, which also houses Eastern Gateway Community College’s Thomas Humphries Hall. It will offer breakfast, lunch and dinner and will be open seven days a week.

The 95-seat restaurant is in the middle of the EGCC campus and is well-positioned to cater to its students, faculty and employees, as well as downtown businesses. A painting of the community college’s alligator mascot graces one wall.

It will be launched with a soft opening, as Jan. 20 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and EGCC, as well as government offices and many downtown businesses, will be closed. A grand opening will follow in a few weeks.

The new location is in the same building as Eastern Gateway Community College.

The new location will employ about 30 people, according to company spokesman Matt Sutton.

It will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays, 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.

In addition to a full line of coffee, tea, espresso, mocha and chocolate drinks, frozen drinks and breakfast foods, the new restaurant will also offers appetizers, soups and salads, cold and hot sandwich platters, burgers, dinner entrees and a kiddie menu.

Mocha House is the third restaurant to occupy the downtown Youngstown space in the past decade, following Café Cimmento and Los Gallos. The site received a complete renovation in recent months, with a new floor plan, seating and fixtures, lighting and decor.

Mocha House’s other locations are on High Street in Warren and Tiffany Boulevard in Boardman.
