Y Live Concert Postponed; Steve Miller Band Canceled
YOUNGSTOWN – One concert has been canceled and another one postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The June 13 Luke Bryan concert at Stambaugh Stadium has been postponed and the promoter, JAC Live, is working with the tour to reschedule it. The concert is part of the annual Y Live series at the stadium.
“Our Luke Bryan June 13th date has been postponed,” said Eric Ryan, president of JAC Live, in a statement. “We are working to reschedule. Stay tuned for more information coming soon.”
Meanwhile, the June 24 Steve Miller Band concert at the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre has been canceled. Refunds for that concert will be automatically posted to the accounts of ticket buyers and should be complete within 30 days, according to a message posted on the amphitheater’s website.
Country superstar Luke Bryan posted an announcement on his website this week announcing the postponement of not only some tour dates, but the release of his upcoming album.
“I wanted to reach out myself and let you know that we have decided to push back the release of my next album, ‘Born Here Live Here Die Here,’ to Aug. 7, as well as the start of my Proud to be Right Here tour to July 10,” he wrote. ”What an incredibly confusing and scary time our world is facing right now, and it is important we continue to follow the guidelines we have been given and do our part to keep everyone safe. With that in mind, we are choosing to stay home at this time so we can have fun sharing this music and tour with you this summer.”
The new album had been scheduled for an April 24 release.
The Luke Bryan concert will be the fourth in the Y Live concert series at the stadium, which are easily the biggest shows of the year in the Mahoning Valley and take place in its biggest venue. The previously announced opening acts will be Morgan Wallen and Caylee Hammack.
Tickets start at $45 and can only be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com (fees apply).
Last year, the sold-out Y Live concert starred Blake Shelton and drew more than 20,000 people. Previous headliners – all in the pop-country vein – included Florida Georgia Line in 2018, which also topped 20,000, and Zac Brown Band in 2017, which sold about 18,000.
The stage will be set up on the 50-yard line facing the stadium’s west stand, which holds 15,000, and about 6,000 temporary seats on the field.
Previous concerts took place in late summer, but this year’s was moved to June this year because of Bryan’s schedule and Youngstown State University’s planned installation of a new turf field at the stadium, which will begin right after the show date and continue for the remainder of the summer.
All previous Y Live concerts have taken place on a Saturday, so it’s worth noting that the YSU Penguins football team has games at Stambaugh Stadium three consecutive Saturdays: Sept. 12, 19 and 26.
