One Hot Cookie Opens 4th Store in Boardman
BOARDMAN, Ohio – One Hot Cookie, which launched from a single store in the Erie Terminal Building in 2013, opened its fourth store here yesterday.
The specialty cookie shop opened at noon, owner Bergen Giordani says. The shop has 15 employees.
“It’s been steady today. We’re very pleased,” she reported Monday. “We’re getting a great response”
At 1,600 square feet, the store — 1315 Boardman-Canfield Road, between Blue Wolf Tavern and Chad Anthony’s on U.S. Route 224 — is the chain’s largest to date, and four times the size of the original store, she said. The new store offers space for birthday parties, Giordani noted.
“Since we announced we were coming to Boardman, we’ve had nothing but positive feedback,” she said. As much as downtown Youngstown is the heart of Mahoning County Boardman is the county’s retail center, “so it makes sense for us to be there.”
One Hot Cookie opened its second retail outlet last year in the Austintown Branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, and this year added a third shop at the Eastwood Mall Complex’ Howland Commons in Niles.
The new Boardman store will be comparable to the Niles shop, Giordani says.
“We do a strong business in corporate gifts so the goal was to get Boardman open before November so we can concentrate on the holiday season,” she said. “Then we’ll see what 2016 brings.”
