A to Z Bath Solutions Streamlines Scheduling, Route Optimization

NILES, Ohio — A to Z Bath Solutions, a 59-year-old Niles company that specializes in plumbing and drain work, last year expanded into HVAC and one-day bath remodels, completing 86 and 48 jobs, respectively. The new work helps account for the company’s 19% sales increase, says its CEO, Brian Pritchard.

A to Z invested about $130,000 last year to buy new equipment and three service vans, bringing its fleet to 23. It hired a director of finance and administration, director of sales and training, a dispatcher, design expert, an administrative assistant and more plumber technicians, Pritchard says.

The company employs 32 and looks to hire more this year, he adds.

And this year the company may move from 419 Youngstown-Warren Road to a larger space to accommodate more HVAC work, bathroom remodels and kitchen cabinet refacing. “Our warehouse, mechanical bays and offices all seem to be getting smaller, yet eight years ago I was considering renting out space,” Pritchard says.

The company’s new trenchless pipe relining division now incorporates a “no-dig method” that replaces pipe from the inside without tearing up a customer’s yard. This year, it’s researching methods of completely removing roots from drains, he says.

Investments in technology enabled A to Z to improve efficiency with better scheduling and route optimization. Technicians use iPads to keep work orders organized and call-ahead service improves customer convenience.

“We automatically text message notifications with pictures of our company-trained, uniformed employees when they’re on the way,” Pritchard says. “Your invoice is conveniently emailed to you upon completion.”

A to Z is adding nonemergency hours on Saturday for people who work weekdays, he says.
