Abdu Center Receives Guardian of Excellence Award
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – For the sixth consecutive year, the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center has been presented with the Guardian of Excellence Award for patient satisfaction from Press Ganey Associates.
The award is given to health-care centers in the top 5% for patient satisfaction, based on evaluations between May 2017 and April 2018, among Press Ganey clients. Among the areas evaluated are registration, wait times and helpfulness and skill of the staff.
“The consistent results of our patient-satisfaction survey is a testament to the dedication, compassion and skill of our technical and office staff,” said Juli Dulay, manager of the breast care center, in a release. “As we have maintained 99% patient satisfaction since we began tracking this measure in April of 2012, it confirms that we are not only meeting, but exceeding our patients’ expectations.”
Opened in 2011, the Joanie Abu Center offers comprehensive diagnostic breast services, including 3D mammography, ultrasounds, MRIs, molecular imaging and biopsies. Through the Joanie’s Promise program, administered by Mercy Health Foundation Mahoning Valley, all patients are accepted regardless of their ability to pay.
“The Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center really is a gift the community gave itself,” Dulay said. “It was Dr. [Rashid] Abdu’s dream and he worked for almost 20 years to generate the support necessary to make it happen. With the support of the community we’re continuing to build on that, continually expanding our reach with the mobile mammography van and now, with the new mammography center inside Poland Imaging.”
Added Abdu, “This award acknowledges that we are meeting that goal, providing the best medical care possible with compassion, with understanding, and with personalized attention to each of our patients.”
