Additional Relief Funds Available for Venue Operators

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Venue operators and others in the state’s entertainment industry can now apply for federal funding from the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant (SVOG) program.

Part of the federal American Rescue Plan, the SVOG program has more than $16 billion in grants available to venue operators or promoters, theatrical producers, performing arts organizations, museums, zoos and aquariums that meet specific guidelines, as well as movie theater operators, talent representatives and business entities owned by an eligible entity that also meets the requirements.

“Venue operators have been hit especially hard by this pandemic as Ohioans were staying safe at home,” said U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, D-13 Ohio, who helped secure the SVOG funding. “The opening of the SVOG program is another big step toward getting people back to work, getting our economy back up and running, and getting back to normal.”

The money can be used for payroll costs, rent and utility payments, worker protection expenditures and other expenses.
