Afzal Joins Home Savings as Chief Operating Officer
Home Savings, Youngstown, has appointed Zahid Afzal to the newly created position of executive vice president, chief operating officer, effective March 19. Afzal will be responsible for “expanding strategic and operating capabilities to align with its aggressive growth and expansion plans,” the bank said. Afzal was appointed to the board of directors for the bank and its parent, United Community Financial Corp., in 2013. He most recently served as executive vice president, chief technology and operations executive at Capital Bank in Raleigh, N.C. Afzal has also held executive positions with Huntington National Bank and Bank of America
