Burgan Real Estate, Friedkin Form Commercial Group
CANFIELD, Ohio — Burgan Real Estate and Friedkin Commercial Realty announced Tuesday the formation of a new commercial company, Burgan Friedkin Commercial Group.
The new commercial real estate company combines two family-owned Mahoning Valley businesses “to serve clients and properties as the premier commercial property group in the area,” according to a news release issued late Tuesday afternoon. The new agency will have its offices at 3223 Belmont Ave., Liberty Township.
Burgan Real Estate has served the Mahoning Valley as an independent, family-owned residential real estate company for 43 years. Since taking over operations in 2017, second-generation owners Sue Filipovich and Patrick Burgan have nearly doubled total sales for the agency to more than $100 million in 2019.
“We want to be able to fully service the Valley,” Filipovich said in a phone interview.
Burgan Real Estate primary deals in residential properties but represents some commercial sites, and demand in that sector has been increasing, she said.
“We wanted to have someone on with us that’s full time and have a group of agents devoted to commercial,” Filipovich said.
Friedkin Realty, operating for more than 40 years, was founded by Alan Friedkin. The company has developed, leased, managed and sold hundreds of thousands of square feet of real estate in the Mahoning Valley. Most recently, the firm represented Mercy Health in the sale of its U.S. Route 224 property to Carnegie Development for the proposed future Meijer supermarket.
Friedkin brings “decades of experience” and long-term relationships with the commercial real estate community to the venture, Filipovich said. “His knowledge and experience are really something that we wanted to have,” as well as “somebody who would be able to grow this division.”
Filipovich said she expects to add four or five agents to the division who will be exclusively dedicated to commercial properties.
“With the creation of this new company, Burgan Friedkin Commercial Group will offer a wider breadth of services while developing a roster of experienced team members to better lead clients and our developments in the Mahoning Valley,” Burgan said in the release.
Friedkin remarked that he is excited to bring his experience in “the commercial and business arena” to the venture. “Uniting with Burgan Real Estate will deliver all of today’s modern techniques for marketing to better serve our clients and all of their needs,” he said.
