Akron Children’s Names Martin VP, Population Health
AKRON, Ohio – Brian Martin has joined Akron Children’s as vice president of population health. He is responsible for the clinical leadership of Akron Children’s Health Collaborative, Akron Children’s pediatric accountable care organization, and home care program.
Martin will be the clinical leader responsible for provider engagement and supporting the clinical direction of the two entities. He will also provide consultative clinical leadership in the areas of evidence-based clinical guidelines, improvement science, provider engagement, utilization management principles, payor coverage and contractual requirements, and other initiatives to improve child health outcomes.
Before joining Akron Children’s, Martin was affiliated for many years with UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Most recently he served as president of the Pennsylvania Pediatric Health Network, which is the UPMC Children’s-owned Pediatric Clinically Integrated Network. He concurrently served as vice president of medical affairs, and previously served as division chief of pediatric dentistry.
Martin earned his bachelor’s degree from Colgate University; his doctor of dental medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine; and his masters in healthcare delivery science from the Tuck School of Business and Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College.
