Alexa Sweeney Blackann on Forging Her Own Path
Today, Alexa Sweeney Blackann is president of Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC. She represents the fourth generation of her family’s ownership of the Boardman dealership, which marks 100 years in business this year. Blackann took over at the end of 2020.
“You do see a lot of dealers keeping their family businesses in generation after generation, but I think my father did a really great job of not expecting that. I have two sisters, so he let each of us forge our own path. I was always the bossy one, so I guess that makes sense now, but he never talked about it like it was something that was a given that we had to do,” says Sweeney Blackann.
