Alta Care Group to Host Food Giveaway for Local Families

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Alta Care Group will host Youngstown Fresh, a fresh food drive for families in the city, from noon to 5 p.m. April 22 outside its office at 711 Belmont Ave.

Alta and its partners will distribute nonperishable items, food vouchers and fresh produce to youths and their families. The event is free and open to the community, with one bag distributed per person while supplies last.

Youngstown Fresh is supported by members of the community, as well as organizations including NAMI Ohio, Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation Youth Grants, Youth Service America, YSU Student Social Work Association, Gordon Brothers Water, Youngstown Mobile Market and several local grocery stores.

Items were collected during a drive in February by Alta Behavioral Healthcare, Alta Head Start, Gordon Brothers Water and the YSU Student Social Work Association.

“At Alta, we’re eager to do our part to help address the limited access to affordable and nutritious food that many families in our community face,” said Gianna Pupino, certified youth/adult peer recovery specialist at Alta and Youngstown Fresh organizer. “And thanks to the generous support of so many in our Valley, we know that Youngstown Fresh will make an impact.”
