America in Bloom to Evaluate Struthers
STRUTHERS, Ohio — With the knowledge that communities that are more welcoming and vibrant stimulate additional economic opportunities and thrive, the America in Bloom program will evaluate Struthers on July 22-23.
Professional advisors from America in Bloom will visit the community and evaluate the beautification efforts impacting community vitality, floral impact, landscaped areas, urban forestry, environmental initiatives, celebrating heritage, and overall impression.
The evaluation will culminate in a detailed written report citing the strengths and opportunities for improvement in the community. Additionally, participating communities can receive special mentions for extraordinary projects or programs.
Other awards and recognitions include population category winners, outstanding achievement awards in several categories, special awards, community champion, and a YouTube video.
The advisor team coming to Struthers will be Connie Baggett of Blewton, Ala., and Carrie Sears of Somers, N.Y. Both have made significant leadership contributions to their own communities through America in Bloom, as well as other civic boards and passions. Baggett is the director of program management for her hometown, and Sears brings her knowledge as an advanced master gardener.
More than 350 communities from 43 states have participated in the program, touching more than 22 million people. An independent, non-profit organization, America in Bloom will hold its National Symposium and Awards Celebration in Columbus from Sept. 26-28, where this year’s awards will be announced.
