America Makes Seeks New Proposals

YOUNGSTOWN – America Makes announces three new project calls with $4.6 million in total awards focusing on additive manufacturing (AM) and supply chain concerns in the area.

The first call, the Open Project Call works to address the needs of existing America Makes membership, working groups and Roadmap Advisory Group (RMAG). The full proposals are due Sept. 16 with about $1.2 million in total funding dedicated to this call.

The Rapid Innovation Call will seek to address immediate supply chain needs identified by America Makes members. A full proposal will be due by Nov. 4. Projects from this call are worth about $400,000 in total funding.

The final call is worth about $3 million and is geared toward plans for the Generation of Additive Materials Allowable for Ti-6AI-4V (GAMAT). Specifically, the project involves the laser powder feed directed energy deposition process. This full proposal is due on Aug. 29.

Each project call will implement materials data, process monitoring, data management, as well as education and workforce development.

“We are extremely excited about these project calls as they speak to the core of what America Makes does as an Institute – convenes, coordinates, and catalyzes the AM community,” said John Wilczynski, Executive Director of America Makes “We feel that now is a good time to announce these calls to allow our members and stakeholders a chance to build and strengthen their project teams at our Members Meeting and Exchange, which takes place in August.”

Additional details about the calls can be found at https://www.americamakes.us.open-project-calls/. A webinar will kick off all three projects on Aug. 1 and registration is required at https://americamakes.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=62bf61e26a334b52c2fe85ea4&id=8b8881e311&e=ca3b85a750.
