America Makes to Unveil Apprenticeship Framework
YOUGSTOWN, Ohio – America Makes and the Robert C. Byrd Institute will host a public forum March 6 and unveil a new framework designed to encourage the development of additive manufacturing and 3-D printing apprenticeship programs nationwide.
The additive manufacturing framework is the first of its kind vetted by the industry and will leverage knowledge drawn from the America Makes Workforce and Education Roadmap, the organization said.
The event is part of America Makes’ Apprenticeship Works program and will be held at Youngstown State University. Admission is free, and interested parties may register here.
The Byrd Institute, is a founding member of America Makes and directs Apprenticeship Works – the National Advanced Manufacturing Apprenticeship Program, an initiative supported by the U.S. Department of Labor. The institute and Apprenticeship Works seeks to expand apprenticeship opportunities and make them accessible and affordable to employers.
“There is a great need for highly skilled workers in advanced manufacturing positions, particularly for those new occupations within the additive manufacturing industry,” said Vicki Thompson, America Makes Workforce & Education Lead. “The goal is to expand the nationwide availability of apprenticeships overall.”
