Ankle & Foot Care Centers Launch Holiday Drive
BOARDMAN, Ohio — Ankle & Foot Care Centers Tuesday announced its 21st annual holiday shoe and sock drive with the goal of delivering more than 500 pairs of shoes and hundreds of pairs of socks to local residents through the Salvation Army.
Through Jan. 4, the practice’s physicians, surgeons and staff are collecting new or nearly new shoes and new socks at its 20 offices in Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana, Stark, Ashtabula and Portage counties in Ohio and Mercer County in Pennsylvania.
Since it began in 1998, the annual drive has collected thousands of shoes and socks.
“One of the most important aspects of foot care is having proper shoes and socks to protect the feet,” said Michael Vallas, practice administrator. “Every year, our doctors, staff, patients and individuals in our community make it a priority to support families in need by donating footwear for people of all ages.”
The drive accepts shoes from children’s sizes to adult, both men and women, and all types of shoes from athletic to dress to casual. Boots in children’s sizes are especially needed. New socks of all sizes are accepted as well.
Ankle & Foot Care Centers is the region’s largest podiatric care provider.
