Appalachian Regional Commission Awards $185K to YBI
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The Appalachian Regional Commission awarded $185,000 in federal funding to the Youngstown Business Incubator.
The funds will go toward 3D printing software and equipment in YBI’s Tech Block Building No. 5, according to separate news releases issued yesterday by U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown and U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan.
The fifth building on YBI’s downtown Youngstown campus, which opened last December, provides space for early-stage companies developing additive manufacturing technology.
“The Mahoning Valley is an epicenter for Ohio manufacturing,” Brown, D-Ohio, said. “This investment to the Youngstown Business Incubator will give startup manufacturers in the area the leading edge they need to grow their businesses and create jobs in the area.”
YBI “continues to be a national leader and resource in innovation and ingenuity in advanced manufacturing,” Ryan, D-13 Ohio, said.
“This well-deserved award will help accelerate YBI’s mission to facilitate development and growth of entrepreneurs, businesses, and jobs in Northeast Ohio,” he continued.
