Armstrong to Kick Off Avenge Hunger Month Campaign

NORTH LIMA, Ohio – Armstrong is set to kick off its seventh annual Avenge Hunger Month campaign to fight hunger across its service territory.

The campaign, part of the company’s Breaking Bread initiative, will run from Aug. 26 through Oct. 6 to coincide with September being National Hunger Action Month.

Donations will help supply more than 200 community feeding programs throughout Armstrong’s footprint in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, West Virginia, Maryland and Kentucky.

Locally, Armstrong locations will collect nonperishable food and monetary donations for Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley and the Youngstown Community Food Center. Members of the local community can contribute food and monetary donations individually or host food drives or other events at their place of business.

Armstrong will begin picking up donations at the end of September and deliver them to Second Harvest and the Youngstown Community Food Center in the donor’s name. Checks can be made out to Armstrong or directly to either organization. The deadline for Armstrong to pick up donations is Oct. 4.

Armstrong’s Breaking Bread initiative began in 2010 to assist those who struggle with food insecurity within the communities the company serves. The first Avenge Hunger Month was held in September 2018 to help bring more awareness to Breaking Bread and generate more donations for local feeding programs.

Over the past six years, Armstrong has collected more than 166,000 pounds of food and nearly $90,000 in monetary donations through the Avenge Hunger Month campaign.
