YOUNGSTOWN – The past year was one of challenges and triumphs for Bistro 1907 restaurant.
Owner and chef Mark Canzonetta describes 2023 as a roller coaster ride, with minimal growth and maximum headaches, set against the ever-changing landscape of downtown.
The primary hurdle was the constant construction, detours and street closures that plagued the downtown area. These obstacles not only disrupted the flow of foot traffic but also created an environment of uncertainty for businesses like Bistro 1907, Canzonetta says.
The turning point finally came in the fourth quarter when loyal customers and new patrons brought a shift in momentum. Optimism grew as the streets reopened and there was a surge in business as the year came to a close.
With their resolve strengthened, Canzonetta says he and his staff plan to make Bistro 1907 a cornerstone of the city’s culinary scene in 2024.
