GREENVILLE, Pa. – Efforts to strengthen the Main Street corridor, coordinate support for the local farmer’s market, organize beautification programs, and encourage local support of small businesses are priorities in 2022 at the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce.
“Chambers are all about our small businesses. That’s why it made sense for the Chamber to take over coordinating the local farmer’s market,” says chamber executive director Janice Schwanbeck.
The event – renamed the Community Market — was opened up to participation from artisans and other vendors.
The chamber also helped form a committee to address the renovation of Central Park, where the community market is held, Schwanbeck says. The plan calls for repairs to the park’s fountain, new benches and tables, new landscaping and upgrades to the lighting.
“We hope that events and activities hosted at Central Park will encourage a sense of community and its usage,” she says.
Last year also saw the return of more in-person gatherings hosted by the Chamber, Schwanbeck says. Among these were Grapes & Growlers, the Chamber Golf Day, several ribbon cuttings, and community parades.
