LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio – Accounting Today magazine has named HD Davis CPAs the third-best firm for women employees.
The firm employs 35. According to the trade journal, 71% of the employees are women, and 67% of the leadership is female.
The Accounting Today recognition is based on a nationwide survey of CPA firms, employment demographics, and interviews with employees of the firms who spoke with anonymity.
“As women, we at times feel we have to choose between career or family,” said Christine Graygo, director of accounting services at Liberty Township-based HD Davis. “And if we chose a career, we feel we are not being the best mother, wife, daughter or friend. HD Davis goes above and beyond to make sure we do not feel we have to choose between work and family.”
Supervisor Jocelyn Tabus added, “You are valued by your work and ability to be a team player, not anything else. Everyone is treated as individuals and the partners do everything to allow you to meet your own goals.”
When it comes to recruiting, manager Alex McNally said, “We don’t strategize to recruit any one gender over another. However, we are open and honest about our team. Our team is diverse, respectful and uplifting.”
Managing Partner Tim Petrey said he was lucky to have a great mentor in Harold Davis who made it a priority to build a workplace that was “safe” for everyone.
“‘Safe’ meant something different to Harold and me though,” Petrey said. “It was a place that was safe for people to try new things, safe to ask for feedback, safe to give feedback, safe to make mistakes and learn from them, safe to put your family first and not worry about the consequences, and most importantly, a safe place for you to create the career path that you’re passionate about regardless of your education, work history, ethnicity or gender.”
Earlier this year, Accounting Today magazine recognized HD Davis CPAs by naming the firm to its 2021 Best Firm to Work For list.
