YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – JuggerBot 3D has secured $4 million in funding from America Makes to develop a large-scale additive manufacturing system capable of producing parts with two separate materials.
The project, in alliance with Air Force Research Labs, aims to drive technologies that will radically lower the cost of manufacturing, produce lighter-weight vehicles, and scales manufacturing to a relevant speed.
“Designing and developing this novel technology for large format composites will enhance the aerospace and defense industrial base,” says Zachary DiVencenzo, co-founder and president. “It will reduce time and cost associated with the production of critical parts.”
The JuggerBot 3D team will advance this technology and participate in technical session presentations with other key project partners over the next 24 months, DiVencenzo says.
“We are proud to bring this work to Youngstown as it contributes additional jobs and economic development to the Valley,” he says.
The project announcement capped a very successful 2023, says marketing manager Benjamin Toomey.
In May 2023, JuggerBot unveiled its newest technology – a digital product information card called the Material Card – at the Rapid+ TCT event for additive manufacturing.
“The Material Card gives engineers the unique opportunity to streamline production, bridge skill gaps and improve reliability in a production environment,” Toomey says.
JuggerBot, founded in 2014, reports it increased revenue by 224% during 2023 as interest within the defense and energy sectors continues to show promise.
