Marshalwitz Signs Pro Baseball Contract

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Former Youngstown State pitcher Casey Marshalwitz has signed a professional contract with the Milwaukee Milkmen of the American Association of Professional Baseball, an official MLB Partner League.

Marshalwitz, who made his professional debut July 19, finished his five-year career at YSU ranking third in program history with 89 career appearances.

The Gibsonia, Pa., native also concluded his career as the only player in school history to make at least
29 appearances in two different seasons.

He made a team-high 24 relief appearances as a fifth-year senior in 2024, finishing with a 3-1 record, one save and 27 strikeouts in 26.2 innings pitched. He allowed one earned run on two hits with three strikeouts over a season-high four innings in his first-career start against Milwaukee in the 2024 Horizon League Baseball Championship.

Marshalwitz made a team and career-high 30 appearances out of the bullpen as a senior in 2023. The right-hander’s 30 appearances tied for the second most in a season in program history as he made the most pitching appearances by a Penguin since 2012.

And he  became just the third pitcher in YSU history to make at least 30 appearances in a single campaign. He finished the 2023 campaign with six saves and 30 strikeouts in 28.1 innings pitched. Marshalwitz’s six saves ranked second in the Horizon League and tied for the sixth most in a season in program history.

Marshalwitz made a team-high 29 appearances out of the bullpen as a junior in 2022. The right-hander’s 29 appearances led the Horizon League and tied for the third most in a season in program history.

He became the first Penguin to appear in at least 29 games on the mound since 2017, finishing the season with a 1-2 record and 32 strikeouts in 26.2 innings pitched.
