CANFIELD, Ohio – Mahoning County Career and Technical Center carved out a remarkable journey in 2023, setting the stage for an even more dynamic 2024.
One of the crowning achievements of 2023 was the completion of our $1.2 million Innovative Energy and Workforce Training Center.
This state-of-the-art facility supports our dedication to advancing energy technology and workforce training, equipping students with the skills needed for the rapidly evolving job market.
In a significant stride forward, we developed an $18 million career tech expansion grant request and received $11.4 million in funding. This grant will fund construction of new facilities, beginning in June and set for completion by June 2026.
Our expansion plans aren’t just about physical space – they’re about enriching our curriculum. We’re enhancing programs in cybersecurity, welding, electricity, robotics, automation and computer programming.
An aspect of our approach is the integration of artificial intelligence across these programs, ensuring students are at the forefront of technological advancement.
In the upcoming year, we’re expanding our youth programs, including VEX, drone and hackathon competitions.
These initiatives are designed to engage and inspire students across our region. To support our growth, we’ve brought on board a new construction teacher and upgraded several career and technical programs.
