SALEM, Ohio – Salem Regional Medical Center, the region’s only independent and nonprofit hospital, continues to grow and expand its services to patients throughout Columbiana County.
“As a regional leader in health care innovation, Salem Regional Medical Center has become a destination for state-of-the-art care,” says Dr. Anita Hackstedde, SRMC president and CEO. “This has helped ensure that our patients receive medical excellence close to home, from award-winning cancer care through our strategic partnership with the University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center to some of the most advanced medical imaging technology in the area.”
Award-winning Care
SRMC’s cancer program is nationally accredited by The Commission on Cancer for excellence in diagnosing, treating and supporting patients with cancer and their families. In addition, the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers has accredited and recognized SRMC’s achievements in providing a comprehensive and high-quality breast care program.
“Through our affiliation with the University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center, one of the nation’s top-ranked cancer facilities, our patients can take comfort in knowing they are receiving the latest treatment options for their cancer, including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgical intervention, genetic testing and clinical trials,” Hackstedde says. “In addition, SRMC’s comprehensive breast care program is a multidisciplinary program that provides our patients with various services and care throughout their breast health journey, from prevention to early detection, to treatment and beyond. Our goal with our cancer program is to ensure our patients are receiving the expertise of a nationally ranked cancer program right here at home, surrounded by the support of their loved ones.”
SRMC is also an American College of Radiology Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. This distinction is given exclusively to breast imaging centers that achieve excellence in the ACR’s required programs, such as 3D mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, MRI biopsy and breast ultrasound.
Expanded Services
SRMC operates several outreach offices beyond its main campus including its newest locations in Columbiana and Canfield.
“We have brought a new level of care to Columbiana through our SRMC Surgery & Outpatient Pavilion at Firestone Farms,” Hackstedde says. “The 76,600 square-foot Pavilion is one of the area’s largest medical facilities and offers patients a convenient and lower cost alternative to hospital-based outpatient care; while delivering the same high levels of quality, safety and advanced technologies.
“SRMC’s launch of this innovative outpatient center is just one more example of how deeply we care about our communities and how we are always looking for ways to better serve their needs. The new Firestone Farms facility is well positioned to meet our patients’ needs of the future, as we advance our mission and enhance the region’s access to clinical excellence.”
Services at the SRMC Surgery & Outpatient Pavilion include:
Medical Imaging: ARC Medical Imaging, an independent diagnostic testing facility, offers advanced medical imaging technology, including 3T MRIs; CT scans; 3D mammograms; ultrasounds; DEXA bone density scans; and digital X-rays.
