Racino Wins with Warm Weather in December
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Play and payouts on video lottery terminals at Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course in December were up around 12% from a year ago.
The monthly VLT reports, released Thursday by the Ohio Lottery Commission, show credits played on VLTs at the Austintown racino totaled $77.1 million in December, up 1.9% from the $68.9 million played in December 2014, and an improvement from November’s $72.4 million.
Bettors won credits worth $68.8 million in December, up 12.4% from the $61.2 million won a year earlier. In November, bettors took home $64.5 million.
Net win – revenues after payout of prizes to players – was $7.8 million last month, up 8.9% from $7.2 million a year earlier and up from $7.3 million in November.
The industry in Ohio during December was up overall, said Eric Schippers, senior vice president of public affairs for Penn National Gaming Inc., which operates the racino.
“The mild temperatures this December certainly helped,” he said in an email. “Other than that, we’re just continuing to focus on providing outstanding customer service and entertainment value.”
In Ohio, VLT play totaled $799.7 million in December, compared with $711.4 million in December 2014.
At Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course in Dayton, another Ohio Penn National operation, credits played totaled $74.4 million last month, compared with $68.1 million a year earlier and $67.6 million in November. Credits won totaled more than $65.9 million, up from the $60.9 million in December 2014 and from the $60.0 million in November.
Net Win at the Dayton facility was $7.5 million, compared with $6.8 million a year earlier and about the same in November.
