The industry in Ohio during December was up overall, said Eric Schippers, senior vice president of public affairs for Penn National Gaming Inc., which operates the racino.

“The mild temperatures this December certainly helped,” he said in an email. “Other than that, we’re just continuing to focus on providing outstanding customer service and entertainment value.”

In Ohio, VLT play totaled $799.7 million in December, compared with $711.4 million in December 2014.
