Austintown Writer Publishes First Novel, Sets Signing Events

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Nancy Christie of Austintown will appear at Barnes & Noble Booksellers in Boardman from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 3, to sell and sign copies of her new novel, “Reinventing Rita.”

It will be the first of several appearances the author will make in the region this summer, including June 17 from noon to 3 p.m. at Leana’s Books and More in Austintown.

“Reinventing Rita” (BookBaby) is Christie’s first full-length novel and launches her Midlife Moxie novel series.

It follows the life of Rita Reynolds, who is at a crossroads and has to decide whether 50 is too old to reinvent herself.

Rita is suffering from empty nest syndrome and the possible loss of her part-time job, while facing the realization that she has been coasting through life since her divorce.

The time has come for her to start moving forward again, but first she must overcome her fear that it might be too late for a fresh start.

“Reinventing Rita” can also be purchased online through bookbaby.com, Amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com.

Christie’s short stories and essays have appeared in numerous print and online publications.

The host of the “Living the Writing Life” podcast and the founder of the annual Celebrate Short Fiction Day, Christie teaches writing workshops at conferences, libraries and schools.

In addition to the Boardman and Austintown events, she will also sign copies of her new book at the following locations:

  • Learned Owl Book Shop, Hudson, June 10, 1 to 3 p.m.
  • Barnes & Noble, Akron, June 24, 1 to 3 p.m.
  • Barnes & Noble, Woodmere, July 15, 3 to 5 p.m.
  • Appletree Books, Cleveland Heights, Aug. 12, 2 to 3 p.m.
