Austinwoods Opens Assisted Living Wing
AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The recently completed assisted living wing at the Woodlands at Austinwoods Healthcare Center on Kirk Road is just one phase of a multimillion-dollar expansion project underway at the campus, officials say.
Company executives inaugurated the new assisted living wing with a ribbon-cutting Friday hosted by the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber.
“We’ve had numerous requests for this,” said Austinwoods owner Kathy Prasad, noting past patients of Austinwoods’ rehabilitation facility and members of the community have repeatedly inquired about assisted living services. “That’s why we developed this project.”
The assisted living section includes 24 private suites equipped with kitchenettes and bathrooms, Prasad said. The project included the complete renovation of 9,000 square-feet and the conversion of a former 32-bed long-term care unit into assisted living space.
With the addition of an assisted living unit, Austinwoods is capable of providing progressive health-care services to meet the needs of residents throughout the aging process.
Simultaneously, Austinwoods is nearing completion of a $3.5 million rehabilitation center that features private rooms with a private bath and shower, reports Frank Antalocy, chief financial officer. The new rehab center will make private rooms available to long-term and short-term patients at the campus.
The 14,000-square-foot addition should be finished in about two months, Antalocy said.
