Autism Society Hires Bacorn as Executive Director
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Autism Society of Mahoning Valley recently announced the appointment of Stacie M. Bacorn as its new executive director. With over a decade of nonprofit leadership experience, Bacorn brings a deep commitment to serving the autism community and a strong track record of organizational growth, fundraising and community partnership. She will lead the organization’s efforts to support, educate, and advocate for individuals and families impacted by autism across the Mahoning Valley.
Bacorn steps into her role at a pivotal time as the organization continues to expand its programming and outreach. Known for her compassionate leadership and collaborative approach, Bacorn plans to work closely with Board members, staff, and community stakeholders to build on the organization’s mission. Her initial priorities include securing physical office space in the community, implementing strategic fundraising initiatives, and strengthening the society’s largest annual event, the Mahoning Valley Warrior fundraiser.
“I am honored to join the Autism Society and am eager to work with our incredible team, dedicated board, and supportive community,” Bacorn says. “Together, we will continue to build a stronger foundation for families affected by autism and broaden our impact in meaningful ways.”
With a background in nonprofit development, Bacorn has successfully led initiatives to secure funding, increase community engagement, and implement impactful programs. Her passion for advancing autism support services is rooted in her dedication to empowering families and individuals with autism to live fulfilling lives.
ASMV Board President Aundrea Cika Heschmeyer shared that she looks forward to Bacorn’s leadership as it enters this exciting new chapter. “Stacie brings a wealth of knowledge and energy that aligns perfectly with our mission. We are thrilled to welcome her and look forward to her vision’s positive impact on the Autism community in Mahoning Valley.”
Heschmeyer added that the Board would like to thank our current director, Robin Suzelis, for her years of service and is happy to announce her assumption of the newly created role of Director of Information and Referral. Supporting Autistic individuals and their families is at the heart of what we do, and her dedicated support will help us strengthen this need.
