Valley Auto Dealers See Sales Climb in February

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Sales of new and used cars climbed nearly 13% last month to 3,993 for dealers in the Mahoning Valley, data from the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association show, while new sales alone jumped 28% to 2,149.

Leading sales of new vehicles in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties was Greenwood Chevrolet, Austintown, which sold 188 cars, trucks and SUVs, 108 more than February 2015. In total, four Valley dealerships reported triple-digit sales: Greenwood; Stadium GM Superstore, Salem, 125; Sweeney Chevrolet, Boardman, 122; and Taylor Kia, Boardman, 100.

The Chevy Silverado was the No. 1 vehicle in the region as 162 customers drove them off the lot. The Lordstown-built Chevy Cruze took second with 156 sold, 68 more than the same month last year. Rounding out the top five were the Chevy Equinox with 144, the Chevy Malibu with 124 and the Ford Escape with 76.

Among sales of used vehicles, the Cruze was the best-selling with 64 leaving lots across the three counties. Greenwood Chevrolet also led dealerships in used sales with 93 cars, trucks and SUVs.
