Ballet Western Reserve Will Present ‘Nutcracker’ with YSO

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Ballet Western Reserve will present its annual holiday performance of “The Nutcracker” this weekend at Powers Auditorium.

Performances will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3.

Tickets are $29 ($235 for seniors and students; $19 for children under 12), and can be purchased in advance by calling the DeYor box office at 330 259 9651 or at deyorpac.org

The production features more than 70 local students in the cast and an ensemble of the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra.

The classic ballet tells the timeless story of a young girl named Clara, whose Nutcracker doll comes to life on Christmas Eve and battles the evil Mouse Queen. The story continues through the snowy pine forest, a greeting from the Sugar Plum Fairy and dancing in the Land of the Sweets.

“The students and staff of BWR are very excited to have the opportunity to again present our ‘Nutcracker’ to the Mahoning Valley,” said Danielle Perrotta, artistic and executive director of BWR. “Having the amazing Youngstown Symphony Orchestra for the second year in a row is also a wonderful element to the production.”
