Scholarship Honors Beatitude House’s Sister McNicholas
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – A scholarship created in honor of Beatitude House’s Sister Patricia McNicholas will begin providing support in fall 2021.
The scholarship will be available to Youngstown State University students. Recipients will be chosen by Beatitude House’s Scholarship Committee, with preference given to current or former program participants and their children.
McNicholas, co-director of Beatitude House, has been part of the organization since it was founded in 1991.
“I am both honored and humbled by this scholarship,” she said in a statement. “I am incredibly appreciative to know it will impact the lives of low-income women for years to come.”
Beatitude House provides transitional and supportive housing to women and children, as well as an immigrant outreach program and educational opportunities through the Ursuline Sisters Scholars. The organization has provided aid to more than 7,000 since it was founded.
