Beth Scheller Named CEO of YMCA of Youngstown
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The YMCA of Youngstown Board of Trustees has selected Beth Scheller as the organization’s next chief executive officer.
Scheller will begin her new role Aug. 1, replacing CEO Tom Gacse, who will serve as CEO Emeritus until he retires Aug. 31.
“I am honored, and it is my privilege to serve as CEO of the YMCA,” Scheller said. “I look forward to working with the board, staff and community to continue providing excellent programs and services throughout Mahoning County and the Youngstown area.”
Scheller has served in various roles with the organization since 2003, most recently as chief operating officer. Her 31-year career has been spent at three YMCA associations – Central Stark County, Lake County and Youngstown.
Scheller’s experiences and expertise are in operations; philanthropy and fundraising; fiscal management; staff development and human resources; and programming.
“We are thrilled that Beth will become our next CEO, and are confident that she has the skills and experience to lead the organization into the future,” said Donald Harrison, board president and Executive Transition Committee chair.
Scheller earned a Master of Science degree in organizational management and leadership from Springfield College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication arts from Malone University. She is certified as a YMCA organizational leader with YMCA of the USA and is a certified Praesidium Guardian in child abuse prevention.
Receptions to recognize Scheller and honor Gacse will be announced at a later date.
