Bethany Presbyterian Church in Mercer Opens Food Pantry
MERCER, Pa. – The community is invited to join Bethany Presbyterian Church and the Mercer County Food Bank to celebrate the opening of The Haven, a new food pantry at the church.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, 100 W. Venango St.
The food pantry will be open from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on the fourth Saturday of every month and will provide shelf-stable foods, as well as refrigerator and freezer items.
“We selected a Saturday distribution to provide access to food to our neighbors who are working during traditional food pantry hours,” said Sue Allen, program coordinator of The Haven.
“We are thrilled to partner with Bethany Presbyterian Church to feed our neighbors in Mercer,” said Becky Page, executive director of the Mercer County Food Bank. “We have been operating our Mobile Pantry program in the borough for two years, feeding nearly 300 families each month. This partnership between the food bank and Bethany is enabling the Mobile Pantry program to live up to its name and move on to serve other food deserts across the county.”
