Bill Kelly Returns to Radio Market as Cumulus VP

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Cumulus Media announced today that Bill Kelly will take over as vice president and market manager for its Youngstown market effective Oct. 3. Kelly retired from iHeart Media — operator of nine radio stations in the Youngstown market — in February

Cumulus operates eight radio stations in the Youngstown area: WHOT 101.1, WYFM 102.9, WWIZ 103.9, WQXK 105.1 and WLIF 96.7 on the FM dial, as well as WSOM  600, WBBW 1240 and WPIC 790 AM stations.

Kelly has worked in Youngstown’s radio market for 35 years, including at WKBN-AM. He helped build the local iHeart Media market when Jacor purchased it in 1997. He most recently served as regional president, overseeing the Youngstown and Washington Court House markets in Ohio and three markets in West Virginia.

Kelly retired from iHeart Media in February.

“After meeting with CEO Mary Berner and other senior leaders at Cumulus, I knew I had to take advantage of this opportunity,” he said in a release. “I can’t thank them enough. The Cumulus brands as well as the staff are well positioned. I look forward to helping them get to the next level.”

Added Cumulus Media vice president Bob Walker, “We are fortunate to have a team in Youngstown that have been consistent winners for years. That reputation helped us attract a leader like Bill and we are eager to have him join our team.”
