Bird Equipment Pays $860K for North Lima Building

NORTH LIMA, Ohio – Bird Equipment of Ohio LLC has purchased the building it operates at here, 11934 South Ave., completing its move into the market that began nearly four years ago.

Bird Equipment purchased the former Specialty Fab Inc. in July 2015. Terms of that transaction were not disclosed.

On March 14, the company paid $830,000 to acquire what’s described as a storage warehouse at the plant site, according to records on file at the Mahoning County auditor’s office. The building was constructed in 1971.

Bird Equipment did not respond to requests for additional information about the property transaction.

The company is based in New Albany, Ohio, and is an operating unit of Marsh Bellofram Group of Companies, based in Newell, W. Va.

When Marsh Bellofram purchased Specialty Fab, its president, Joe Colletti, said it would invest $500,000 to “put in large welding stations, big manipulators and hydro static testing equipment.”

At the time, 20 workers were employed at the fabrication plant. Employment was expected to reach as many as 75.

The company makes equipment used in the oil and gas industry.
