Bistro 1907 to Reopen July 9

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Bistro 1907, the restaurant in the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in downtown Youngstown, will reopen at 4 p.m. July 9, owner Mark Canzonetta announced.

In a post on the restaurant’s Facebook page, Canzonetta said the restaurant will reopen with and adjusted menu and hours.

The restaurant has been closed since Gov. Mike DeWine barred in-person dining March 15 as part of the initial shutdown order to slow the spread of the coronavirus. Restaurants were allowed to reopen to eat-in service May 21, but Canzonetta deferred, citing the restrictions required to do so.

“I don’t want to open at 25% capacity, and 50% is a stretch,” Canzonetta told The Business Journal in early May. “It’s not worth it. I’m willing to wait until July 1 to reopen if it means full occupancy is allowed.”

Opening at 25% capacity, he said, would incur more debt beyond the $2 million he’s already invested in Bistro 1907.

Canzonetta has spent the time Bistro 1907 was closed preparing for a “reboot.”

“It’s going to be like opening a new restaurant,” he said. “We tore apart the restaurant, washed every dish and silverware, every table leg. We’re steam-cleaning the carpet and doing COVID sanitizing.”
