Bistro on Broad St. Opens in Newton Falls
NEWTON FALLS, Ohio — Bistro on Broad St., formerly Healthy Treasures Café, is under new management, with a new mission to provide something “GOOD to eat,” writes its manager in announcing the change.
Sarah Gartland is the new executive chef as well as the manager. The transition became visible Friday with the installation of a temporary sign created by RSimiprints and Mark Strader of Creations of the Imagination, both based in Newton Falls. The use of local vendors is central to The Bistro’s mission, according to Gartland.
“The Bistro aims to support the community through spending locally, offering from-scratch meal options that support any dietary type or restriction, hosting a full calendar of special events, as well as catering,” she says.
The Bistro on Broad St. operated under the “Healthy Treasures Café” name for about seven years, and remains part of the Healthy Treasures store that has been “a fixture of Newton Falls downtown for over 20 years offering supplements and foods to support a healthy lifestyle,” Gartland says.
“The restaurant will support the local food supply chain by patronizing farmers through direct and regular purchases of high-quality produce, meat and cheeses,” she continues. “And the Bistro’s kitchen will incorporate heritage foodways to offer local ingredients in unexpected ways.”
In addition to offering breakfast and lunch for carry-out or dining in the newly renovated seating area, the Bistro will offer catering, ready-to-heat meals and special events “designed to increase community identity and interaction.” Gartland says.
Hours are Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.
