Blue Sky Therapy Provides Virtual Wheelchair Assesments
CANFIELD, Ohio – Blue Sky Therapy is using telehealth to provide remote wheelchair assessments to patients in their homes.
So far, the practice has provided more than 100 assessments, partnering with wheelchair maker and mobility services company Numotion.
“At Blue Sky Therapy, patients are our top priority. When we found out that some patients may not get their medically necessary wheelchairs or might have to wait for an undetermined amount of time, we decided to act quickly to meet their needs and determine a solution,” said Ashley Geer, director of clinical operations, in a statement.
Wheelchair seating is an important aspect of therapy, she continues, as it affects posture, functional mobility, daily activities fall prevention. The therapists at Blue Sky Therapy work with certified assistive technology professionals to provide an assessment for the patient based on their needs and then make recommendations for equipment and training.
“Through this partnership, Blue Sky Therapy is able to assist in 100 wheelchair assessments and counting,” Geer said. “We are proud to continue to provide quality services to patients from the comfort of their own home through teletherapy.”
