Boardman High School Brings Back Haunted Attraction
BOARDMAN, Ohio – After a 10-year hiatus, Boardman High School is bringing back its Halloween haunted attraction.
It will take place from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, and Thursday, Oct. 31, inside the Boardman Performing Arts Center, 7777 Glenwood Ave. Admission is $5 ($3 for students).
The high school’s art students formerly presented the Witch Walk every October at Boardman Park. The attraction was later moved to a hallway at the high school because of frequent bad weather. It was discontinued after 2012.
The event has been resurrected this year. Dubbed the Haunted BPAC, it will take place on the stage of the performing arts center.
About 40 drama guild and stage crew students are involved, said Pat Kale, who is directing the event. Kale is also supervisor of the performing arts center and the stage crew club. The groups have used their theatrical talent to create a haunted house on the BPAC stage.
The attraction is recommended for children age 10 and up. It’s not overly gory or violent, Kale said, but it does include “some classic killers” like Michael Myers of the “Halloween” movies.
Actors will be dressed as ghouls and monsters. Those who do not want to be singled out by them can ask to wear a glowing wristband. “The actors will see it and not get into their personal space or target them for a jump scare,” Kale said.
The attraction is open to the public, including on Halloween night. All proceeds will benefit the drama guild’s future productions.
The school’s fall musical this year will be “Anastasia.” It will be presented at the performing arts center at 7 p.m. Nov. 21-23. Tickets are $15 ($12 for students and senior citizens) and can be purchased in advance HERE.
