Boardman Schools Name Saxton New Superintendent
BOARDMAN, Ohio – The Boardman Board of Education named Tim Saxton as its new superintendent. The board unanimously approved the appointment at its meeting last night.
Saxton, currently the district’s director of operations, will replace Boardman’s longtime superintendent, Frank Lazzeri, when he retires effective Aug. 1.
“I am honored and humbled to be recommended by the Board of Education for this leadership position. I look forward to serving the students, parents, and employees of the Boardman Local Schools as we continue and expand the outstanding tradition of being a Boardman Spartan,” Saxton said in the news release announcing his selection.
The board showed “great wisdom” in selecting Saxton to lead the district, Lazzeri said in the release.
“Mr. Saxton and I have worked closely for a number of years and he is more than ready to assume the superintendency,” he said. “His vision for the future of the district coupled with his intellect and work ethic translate to a sure-fire formula for success.”
Saxton served as Boardman High School principal for 11 years before he took his current position as director of operations in August 2013. As operations director, he was instrumental in both the planning and fundraising for the new Spartan Football Stadium, according to the release.
A 1984 graduate of Boardman High School, he graduated from Grove City College and received his master’s degree from Westminster College. He taught in the Bedford School District in Cleveland, and served as a teacher, coach and assistant principal in Canfield prior to coming to Boardman.
