Boscov’s Delays Opening Eastwood Store until Oct. 2021

NILES, Ohio – Department store chain Boscov’s has delayed the opening of its store at the Eastwood Mall to October 2021.

In a statement, chairman and CEO Jim Boscov cited the coronavirus pandemic as the largest factor in the decision. The pandemic has “created a series of challenges” including delays in acquiring inventory for the store.

“The last thing we want is to disappoint a new customers because we don’t have the tremendous assortment that Boscov’s is known for due to supply chain challenges facing the vendor community,” he said. “We want to give the Mahoning and Shenango Valley communities the grand opening they deserve … and to do so with confidence means waiting until 2021.”

Based in Reading, Pa., Boscov’s operates 48 stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Ohio. The Niles site will be the company’s second in Ohio, joining a store at the Ohio Valley Mall in St. Clairsville.
