Boscov’s One-Day Event Supports Local Charities

NILES, Ohio – Boscov’s aims to raise $1 million for charities through its 26th Friends Helping Friends event this Wednesday, Oct. 19.

Through the one-day event customers donate $5 to a participating non-profit organization and receive a 25% off shopping pass that can be used in the store during the extended hours of 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

“Throughout our 49 stores, 3,000 non-profit organizations have been working hard to distribute shopping passes giving their supporters a 25% discount on almost everything we sell,” said Jim Boscov, chairman and CEO. “Now, more than ever, we need the services that these charities provide in all of our communities.”

The non-profit organizations receive 100% of the $5 donation. The shopping passes will still be available in Boscov’s stores the day of the Friends Helping Friends event.

Customers can also register to win a $100 Boscov’s gift card, with one given away in each Boscov’s store.

The event is an opportunity to receive the largest discount of the year on Boscov’s already discounted prices, do some holiday shopping and support the local charities.

“This event has developed into a wonderful opportunity for both our customers and non-profit partners and we believe the $1 million goal is realistic,” Boscov said.

The Eastwood Mall Boscov’s location opened a year ago this month.
