Brindisi Honored by Children Services Association

Jennifer Brindisi, anchor of WMFJ 21 News Midday, has been named Outstanding Journalist of the Year by the Public Children Services Association of Ohio. The award was presented Sept. 26 at the association’s annual conference in Columbus. Brindisi was recognized for innovating a monthly TV segment that evolved into the “Kids Matter Project,” a collaborative partnership with Mahoning County Children Services. A five-minute segment appears monthly on the midday news program; public service spots developed by the agency wrap around the segment. In presenting the award, the association noted that topics covered in the segments “would not have been given the focus they deserve on broadcast television.”
