Brite has High Hopes for Former RG Steel Building
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Brite Energy Innovators is working alongside several partners across Northeast Ohio to compete in the U.S. Economic Development Agency’s ‘Build Back Better’ regional challenge.
They have already received Phase 1 funding and, if awarded, Phase 2 funding will include $8 million for a battery research center to be located in the former RG Steel building in Warren. Rick Stockburger, Brite’s president and CEO, says the EDA prefers to see rehabilitation old building rather than new construction.
“One of the cool things about Warren is the opportunity,” Stockburger says. “As we look at the old BDM property or the old RG Steel property as being one of the largest contiguous developable sites in the state on Ohio, we really wanted to make this project be kind of a crown jewel of that corridor.”
