Burgan Renews Partnership with YSU Athletics

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Burgan Real Estate has retained its standing as the Official Brokerage of Youngstown State Athletics, the agency announced Tuesday.

The partnership includes a multi-channel branding program, including signage at Stambaugh Stadium during home football games and at Beeghly Center during men’s and women’s home basketball games, digital marketing, naming rights as the exclusive student section sponsor for YSU men’s and women’s basketball games, and a special promotion kicking off during the first YSU home football game on Sept. 2.

Patrick Burgan and Sue Filipovich, second-generation co-owners and brokers at Burgan Real Estate, earned their undergraduate degrees at YSU.

“We have seen how much better our community and the downtown area has become with the expansion and leadership at Youngstown State University,” Burgan said. “By continuing to support the University as an Official Partner of YSU Athletics, we are excited to enhance our partnership that will reward fans of YSU, its student athletes, alumni and community.”

YSU’s home-opener against the University of Incarnate Word Cardinals is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Sept. 2. The game kicks off a special promotion with Burgan.

Each week, inside the YSU Penguin Power game day program, fans will receive a Burgan Real Estate “GONE” window sticker for their vehicle. Fans spotted displaying the sticker on their vehicle are eligible to be randomly selected to receive a $100 monthly cash prize, courtesy of Burgan.

For fans not at the game, stickers are also available at the YSU ticketing office, at Burgan Real Estate’s main offices at 5335 Market St. in Boardman, or any weekend Open House hosted by a Burgan real estate agent. Complete details about the promotion are on page 80 of the programs. No purchase is necessary to participate.

“Over the past year, more people have been putting Burgan Real Estate ‘GONE’ signs in their front yard in the Mahoning Valley,” Filipovich said. “This promotion is designed to give fans a chance to continue to use our ‘GONE’ sign to support YSU and to earn a special reward by helping us share our new logo and better approach to selling homes in the Mahoning Valley as a locally owned and operated brokerage that has been giving back to the community for over 44 years.”

The agency looks to incorporate a promotional campaign during the upcoming YSU men’s and women’s basketball seasons as well. In 2019, the agency paid on year’s worth of a mortgage, or $12,000, to a local man who made a half-court shot during one of the YSU men’s basketball games.

“Burgan has continued to be one of the most loyal and innovative partners we have ever had as a sponsor of YSU Athletics,” said Ron Strollo, executive director of athletics at YSU. “Their partnership allows our student-athletes to compete at a championship level, graduate and become proud representatives of YSU in this Valley. We thank Patrick and Sue for continuing to align the Burgan brand with the Penguins and we look forward to even better year together.”
