Business Opportunities Workshop Offered for Contractors

WARREN, Ohio – Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership is offering a free workshop for contractors looking for business and grant opportunities.

TNP is partnering with the Trumbull County Land Bank, Youngstown Minority Business Assistance Center and 7 17 Credit Union to present the workshop, which will be held from 5 to 7 p.m March 13 at 7 17’s corporate operations building, 3181 Larchmont Ave. NE.

The workshop is designed for those interested in becoming a full-lead abatement contractor, minority-owned construction and trade businesses and contractors interested in partnering with local and government agencies.

TNP and the land bank are seeking contractors to perform home repair, lead remediation and residential property renovations.

“TNP has secured over $4 million in funding for home repair work in Trumbull County and currently has a great need for contractors to do this work,” said Mikenna McClurg, TNP housing coordinator. “We are excited to be part of this workshop because it allows us to reach local contractors, therefore keeping the funds right here in the Valley. Right now, we are focusing on expanding our lead contractor pool but also have non-lead construction work, so we encourage anyone interested in working with us to attend the workshop.”

Tanisha Wheeler, regional director of the Youngstown Minority Business Assistance Center, said she believes the workshop will make more clients aware of what’s possible for minorities in the construction and trade business, and she hopes Trumbull County clients will take advantage of the workshop.

“We are committed to ensuring that business owners within our region are familiar with agencies and resources that are at their fingertips,” Wheeler said. “This event is proof that partnering with 7 17 and TNP is important as we continue to support entrepreneurs. We have identified a need within our community for quality contractors, and we want to ensure that we are preparing contractors to be competitive in the industry, as well as taking their business to the next level.”

Those interested in attending the workshop should register HERE by March 6.
