C. Tucker Cope Wins Building of the Year Excellence In Design Award
COLUMBIANA, Ohio – C. Tucker Cope & Associates, Inc. was recently awarded the American Buildings 2022 Building of the Year Excellence in Design Award, American Buildings has announced.
American Buildings, a subsidiary of Nucor, said the award was presented for the Columbiana company’s work on the Pitt-Ohio hub and terminal project in Parma, Ohio.
Pitt-Ohio invested in a new 95,765 square-foot facility that has received Gold LEED status. C. Tucker Cope provided the pre-engineered metal building, which features a terminal, mechanic shop, office, and warehouse.
LEED is an acronym for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, and is a green building certification program that recognizes best practices by the U.S. Green Building Council.
Among the examples of the building’senvironmental sustainability are the use of metal construction and its sizable percentage of recycled content, a cool color metal roof system designed with the addition of solar panels to support an overall microgrid effort for the facility, energy efficient light wall panels allowing natural light, and the installation of eight wind turbines onsite to capture and store natural energies, American Buildings said.
This year, judges chose from more than 100 entries and selected the best projects in each of the following categories: Agriculture; Auto Dealership; Church/Religious Centers; Commercial; Government/Institutional; Manufacturing/Industrial; Office; Recreation; Retail; Special Projects; Transportation; and Warehouse/Distribution.
Winners were announced for each category and were eligible to compete for the Excellence in Design top award: 2022 Building of the Year.
“The Excellence in Design Awards highlight the talented professionals in the metal buildings industry,” said Carlie Smith, marketing director for Nucor Buildings Group. “We are continually impressed by the quality of projects submitted each year for our Excellence in Design Program and commend our skilled builders on the completion of so many inspiring, innovative metal building projects. We are honored to award the 2022 Building of the Year to C. Tucker Cope & Associates for the Pitt-Ohio project.”
The competition is open to all American Buildings authorized builders. The awards recognize builders for their innovation, diverse application, and distinction in design in the metal buildings industry. An independent panel of judges selects the winners.
