Cadence Vault in East Liverpool Under New Leadership
EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio – A new leadership team has taken the reins at Cadence Vault, 200 E. Fifth St., with plans to make it a place where everyone knows your name.
Built in 1924 as the Potters Bank and Trust, the building had sat empty for several years until Pittsburgh businessman Craig Cozza purchased it, along with other PNC Bank buildings in Pennsylvania.
Cozza previously said he didn’t know what he was going to do with the building he purchased until he met local resident Randy Schneider and they forged a partnership, renovating the downtown structure – at a cost of $1.4 million – into Renovatio’s Tap Room and Restaurant, which opened in January 2021.
Cozza and Schneider parted ways in May 2022, and the restaurant’s name was changed to Cadence Vault, with Cozza as the sole owner.
Last week, a news release announced “a significant milestone in its journey,” with a transition to a locally owned and operated management team consisting of local business leaders and seasoned restaurateurs.
The team, composed of Jacob Robinson and Troy Chisom of Venture Realty, Kevin Kerr of Veterans Energy Construction, Mandy Jones and Kiley May of Fresh on Fifth and Charles Bailey, CEO of True North, is set to continue Cozza’s vision of integrating Cadence Vault into the heart of the East Liverpool community, according to the release.
According to the release, the team will build on the “exceptional work” of the existing Cadence Vault team, including executive chef Tanocha Adams.
In an interview last week, Bailey said, “It has always been Craig’s vision to have a local management team running the Vault. … That’s become a reality today.”
He said the management team, known as Vault LLC, now owns the Cadence Vault business, while Cozza still owns the building.
Jones and May will run the daily operations of the business, according to Bailey, who said adding more catering events is among their plans for the Vault.
With his background in construction, Kerr will provide support for the historic building, while Robinson, an accountant, will handle finances. Chisom will be in charge of sales leadership, and Bailey is the senior advisor.
“Our goal is to use [the restaurant] as another catalyst for the revitalization of East Liverpool,” Bailey said. “We have to make it successful because we all have other businesses in the city.”
Bailey said if the business is a success, it will attract other businesses.
“We will keep branding the same, with a twist so it feels more local,” he said. “It didn’t feel like home when you walked in. Our goal is to make it feel like home. We’ll work really hard to get that feeling where everyone knows your name.”
Cozza, originally from the Guilford Lake area, “will continue to support us in a big way,” Bailey said.
In a post on the Cadence Vault Facebook page Friday, Cozza wrote: “The Vault has always been more than just a restaurant. It’s a community, a place where people come together and celebrate the best of East Liverpool.”
